The General Secretary of Universities of the Spanish Government welcomes the UCAM student representatives

José Manuel Pingarrón has encouraged students to actively participate in university activities.

This morning, the Assembly Hall of the Monastery of Los Jerónimos has hosted the

first meeting of the Student Representatives of the Universidad Católica de Murcia of

this academic year. Manuel Ruiz, Vice-Rector for Quality and Academic Planning,

and Adrián Massotti, President of the Student Council, welcomed the representatives

and explained the structure and functioning of student representation at UCAM to

them.

The event began with the participation via streaming of José Manuel Pingarrón,

General Secretary of Universities of the Spanish Government, who greeted the

nearly one hundred students who attended the meeting and invited them to get

involved in their task as representatives: ‘We need to know what you think in order to

improve the university system and work together
’.

According to Manuel Ruiz, ‘students are the backbone of the university. They come

first in all the activities we carry out and are therefore encouraged to actively and

constructively take part in the processes of continuous improvement’. In the same

vein, Adrián Massotti added the following: ‘We want to continue working side by side

with the university to keep improving and, above all, to make ourselves available to

help in any way we can, as we did a few weeks ago in the area of volunteering,

when we helped with the cleaning of streets and houses in Javalí Viejo after the

storm they suffered’.
