Carolina Marín, badminton world runner-up
The Huelva native and UCAM athlete Carolina Marín became runner-up in the badminton world championship after losing in the final to South Korea's An Se Young (21-12 and 21-10) in the final of the tournament held in Copenhagen (Denmark). The Spaniard had a great tournament and was only beaten in the gold medal match by the current best player in the world, number 1 in the ranking and big favourite in the women's draw.
With this silver medal, Carolina Marín extends her impressive track record as one of the best badminton players in history: Olympic gold (2016), three gold medals at World Championships (2014, 2015 and 2018), World silver (2023) and six gold medals at European Championships (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022).
