The 3rd UCAM Solidaria 5K Run and Walk in support of AFACMUR has been presented
The event, which will take place this Sunday in Murcia, will donate all proceedings to the Association of Families of Children with Cancer in the Region of Murcia
On 22nd morning, the BeSoccer La Condomina stadium hosted the official presentation of the third edition of the UCAM Solidaria - 5K y Marcha, an initiative promoted by the UCAM Sports Service. This year, the race will be held in aid of AFACMUR, Asociación de Familiares de Niños con Cáncer de la Región de Murcia (Association of Families of Children with Cancer in the Region of Murcia), to which all proceeds will be donated.
The event was attended by Pablo Rosique, Director General of Sports at UCAM; Miguel Ángel Noguera, Councillor for Sports at Murcia City Council; Antonio Bermúdez, President of the Federación de Atletismo de la Región de Murcia (FAMU, Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia); and Pepe Meseguer, Director of Communication at CaixaBank.
The race will be held this Sunday, 25 May, at 9.30am and will cover a 5km route through the streets of Murcia. Starting and finishing on Calle Teniente Flomesta, the route will pass through landmarks such as the Reina Sofía Hospital, the Segura river area and the Infante Juan Manuel neighbourhood. This is an official circuit, approved by the FAMU, and is part of the Running Challenge, considered the best regional league of popular races.
The UCAM Solidaria - 5K and Walk is a competition open to all types of participants: from high-level athletes to families, hikers or citizens who wish to collaborate by walking through the city centre. This year's edition is being held for the first time in collaboration with AFACMUR, with the aim of raising awareness and funds to support children with cancer and their families.
The race is also part of the Regional Club Championship of Murcia. All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a runner's bag, part of which has been provided by CaixaBank, an entity that actively collaborates with UCAM's sports initiatives.
During the presentation, the organisers thanked the Murcia City Council and the FAMU for their institutional support, as well as the commitment of the sponsors, highlighting the constant support of CaixaBank. ‘This is an event that combines sport and solidarity, open to everyone and with a very clear purpose: to help those who need it most,’ said Pablo Rosique. Registration remains open until Friday 23 May at 11.59pm.
