The Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) has commenced its fifteenth edition of its Master's Degree in Sports Traumatology one of its oldest and most prestigious degrees. Since its creation in 1999, this training programme has established itself as a national and international benchmark in the field of sports traumatology, training most of the most important specialists in the field. Today, many of its graduates hold high positions in elite sport both in Spain and abroad.

The master's degree is directed by Dr Francisco Esparza, who has a team of professionals of renown prestige in sports medicine. Among its founders are prestigious traumatologists who formed the Spanish Society of Sports Traumatology (SETRADE), led by Dr Pedro Guillén who, together with the founder of the University, José Luis Mendoza, had the vision to create a programme that would respond to the needs of a field that is constantly evolving. Throughout its 25 years of existence, the master's degree has integrated technological advances and new approaches in the treatment of sports injuries, guaranteeing training that combines theory and practice, and which is adapted to the demands of an increasingly competitive sporting environment.

In person training in a programme backed by experience and excellence

The UCAM Master's Degree in Sports Traumatology is not only renowned for the quality of its academic content, but also for the proximity and human contact between professors and students, which is fostered by on-site training, an aspect that has been highlighted by the students themselves. During the course, active participation in research projects and collaboration with leading institutions, both national and international, is encouraged, allowing students to acquire hands-on experience of the professional reality.

‘Since its inception, this master's degree has been a point of reference for the training of professionals in the field of sport, not only for the knowledge imparted, but also for the contact established with the teaching staff and the sporting field in general’, said Francisco Esparza, director of the programme, who stressed the importance of the continuous updating of the contents and the integration of the latest advances in sports traumatology.

The University of Sports and athletes

Since its founding, UCAM has been characterised by its links with sport and its support for sportsmen and women in their academic and professional training. Proof of this is the offer of qualifications related to health and sport, among which the Master's Degree in Sports Traumatology occupies a prominent place. In addition, the University maintains partnerships with numerous sports organisations, which gives students on the master's degree access to internships in clubs and specialised centres, where they can apply their knowledge and gain professional experience.

With the start of this new promotion, UCAM reaffirms its commitment to training excellence in the field of sports medicine, contributing to the development of a new generation of professionals trained to address the challenges presented by current sports practice, both in elite athletes and in those who are starting out in sports from an early age. In sporting terms, this UCAM Master's degree could be considered to be creating the ‘breeding ground’ of sports health professionals.
