The University increases its industrial doctoral theses

In 2020, seven new works belonging to the programmes of Health Sciences and Social Sciences have been defended. 31 companies at a regional, national and international level collaborate in the industrial doctoral programmes of the Catholic University

UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia keeps increasing its commitment with research and its connection with companies through the Research Result Transfer Office (OTRI)Seven new doctors belonging to the programmes of Health Sciences and Social Sciences obtained this year their degrees with the industrial PhD mention.

In collaboration with the companies

The programme of industrial PhDs relies on the participation of 31 companies at a regional, national and international level, such as Villapharma, Nutrafur, Laboratorio Heel, HOP Ubiquitous, AMC Innova and GAM Seguridad Alimentaria.

Currently, there are 35 of theses of this type under way in the Catholic University, framed within the different research areas.

Ageing prevention

The areas of knowledge of the seven doctoral theses defended throughout this year range from the study on the effects on health of the use of a symbiotic in professional athletes and sedentary people, to the design and analysis of methodologies to implement new marketing channels based on the internet of things.

One of the researches is the one by Juan Ángel Carrillo, new director of the programme of Health Sciences, in collaboration with the company GAM Seguridad Alimentaria. This study developed an alternative system to prevent the signs of ageing or the deterioration of memory among the young population through the consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Research on fruits and vegetables

Another study is the one carried out by Ramiro Alonso, in collaboration with the company Keep Cool, through the ‘Chair of Entrepreneurship in the Agro-Food Field UCAM- Banco Santander’, through which a work is being carried out to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables through ethylene reduction. The tests are being carried out on products of the Region, managing to extend their shelf life by up to 15 days.
