Students from China, Brazil, Peru, Italy, France, Egypt, Portugal, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Morocco, France, Germany, and a total of 120 countries proudly waved their flags at the UCAM International Welcome ceremony, held this morning at the BeSoccer La Condomina Stadium.

The meeting welcomed the more than 1100 new international students joining UCAM this academic year, a figure that marks a historic milestone for our institution. These students will attend undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes, consolidating the international presence in the diverse programmes UCAM offers.

María Dolores García Mascarell, UCAM President, welcomed them, together with Josefina García, Rector of the University; José Luis Mendoza García, Director General of Institutional Relations; Manuel Guillén, Vicar of the Diocese of Cartagena, managers and academic leaders.

‘You are beginning a precious stage, which will transform your lives, by acquiring a magnificent personal experience and an excellent education that will enable you to contribute to a better world’, highlighted María Dolores García, who also encouraged the students to enjoy all the services offered by the institution, as well as the climate, the gastronomy and the proximity of the people of Murcia. In the same vein, the rector thanked them for trusting UCAM with their education and reminded them of the Catholic identity of the institution. Meanwhile, Manuel Guillén sent an affectionate greeting to the students on behalf of the Bishop of the Diocese, José Manuel Lorca, in which he stated that ‘you are coming to study in the best region and the best university.’

Academic excellence

This high presence of international students reinforces UCAM's commitment to educational excellence and its global focus, values that have led it to obtain, since the 2023/24 academic year, the prestigious 5-star QS rating, which evaluates universities around the world in areas such as academic reputation, employability and the relationship between students and teachers. These excellent results have contributed to the university becoming an international attraction point, generating wealth and tourist projection for the Region of Murcia, as José Luis Mendoza García pointed out in his speech.

To guarantee the best academic and personal experience, UCAM offers its international students a support system, which includes coordinators in all faculties, as well as the Department of International Admissions and Student Care. The latter plays a key role in the guidance and welfare of students during their stay at the University.
