The Monastery of Los Jerónimos received the Icon of the Holy Annunciation from Syria this morning. This icon was rescued from the rubble of an Orthodox monastery in the Syrian city of Homs and is a sign of the persecution many Christians still face. The work, which will remain at the Universidad Católica until midday, was shot at during a terrorist attack. It still has three bullet impacts, one of which has the bullet embedded in it. This event, coordinated by UCAM, is an initiative of the Pontifical Foundation Aid to the Church in Need to draw attention to the persecution of Christians in many parts of the world.
