UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia has participated in the International Tourism Fair to highlight the role of the university in the new scenario that the tourism industry is facing after the pandemic, showing its training offering in this field, which is integrated by the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and the post-graduate programmes specialised in Hospitality, Innovation, Gastronomy and Sports Tourism. Ginesa Martínez, vice-dean of the Bachelor’s Degree, participated in many conferences in Fitur Talent, highlighting how important it is that “companies diversify their contacts with universities and do not just focus on their environment, since our reality has changed with online training”. Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, visited the UCAM stand and discussed with Ginesa Martínez the need to “support the training work that the universities carry out in the field of tourism through their higher education Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees”.

Accordingly, the vice-dean of Tourism of UCAM gave a speech on the role of universities in the resurgence of tourism. In it, she highlighted that “the aims of the university must focus on training and research, starting from internationalisation in order to manage talent. We must promote teachers’ and students’ mobility, but not only between universities. We want them to be integrated in companies in order to obtain an actual exchange of knowledge”. She also highlighted that “Spanish universities must become a global point of reference in training in order to attract students from all over the world”.
