UCAM donates the proceeds from the Wonka charity concert to Cáritas
The money will go towards the purchase of toys for children from families without resources.
The President of the Universidad Católica de Murcia, María Dolores García, presented José Antonio Planes, Director of Caritas Diocese of Cartagena, with the vouchers corresponding to the proceeds from the traditional Christmas charity concert given by the UCAM Symphony Orchestra, as part of the ‘No child without a toy’ campaign.
José Antonio Planes thanked UCAM for this initiative ‘which allows children to receive toys that their families’ economic situation prevents them from receiving at this special time of year, as a result of the University's collaboration with Caritas'.
Along the same lines, the president valued the fraternity that exists between the two organisations and stressed that ‘we hope that 2025 will be a jubilee year in which God's blessings will reach us all, especially the most vulnerable, who are the people with whom Cáritas is working, doing priceless social work that is well worth giving oneself to’.
The UCAM Christmas solidarity concert has become a benchmark of social commitment in the Region of Murcia. In this 2024 edition, held on 26 December at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia, the children's film Wonka was the protagonist of the performance by the Symphony Orchestra of the Universidad Católica de Murcia, in an event to which the public responded with a massive attendance.
