The presidents of the Universidad Católica de Murcia and the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe, José Luis Mendoza and Vincenzo Brassi, have signed an agreement creating the European Chair in Public Policy, Taxation and Family, which will highlight the essential role of family in society.

The document includes the creation and development of training and research programmes on family policies in Europe, the promotion of knowledge exchange in this field through conferences and symposia, and the promotion of cooperation initiatives on social projects and circular economy.

Pablo Blesa, Vice-Rector of Institutional Relations and Communication at UCAM, highlights the interest the Universidad Católica de Murcia has always shown in family, as “it is the cornerstone of our society. Economic development revolves around it, as well as existential aspects such as care for the elderly or childcare. This chair will help policy makers to be better informed when making decisions which can favour and support families”.

FAFCE, which is present in 18 countries in Europe, is responsible for presenting and defending the needs of families before European institutions. “Through the Church, we help to discover the role of family in society and take care of those who are struggling,” says Vicenzo Brassi, president of this institution, who affirms that “we want to show that family is the most important resource that can enable society to look to the future”.
