The internationalisation is a strategic field for UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia and, therefore, it has launched a new initiative, creating the International Chair of International Relations and European Studies. Its director and extraordinary professor is Alejandro Blanco Fernández, who has an incredible career as representative to international bodies; he holds a PhD from Camilo José Cela University and he is a counsellor at the Ministry of Finance for the Representation of Spain to the European Union.

Pablo Blesa, vice-chancellor for International Relations and Communication of UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia, considers that this chair, which belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, “aims, among other things, at supporting and fostering postgraduate studies such as the ‘Master’s Degree in European Union Studies and Human Rights’ or the ‘Master’s Degree in International Relations’, apart from promoting research in the field of international relations, creating studies at all levels, including PhD”.

Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations

Another aim of this new Chair is to favour the creation of a new Bachelor’s Degree at UCAM, the one in International Relations: “We hope that this will be an emblematic degree for our university and a reference point for our country, characterised by international mobility, taught in English, in face-to-face mode, with updated contents. It will count on an approach to development cooperation, since this chair has been created also to establish collaboration relationships with the institutions, companies, international NGOs and super national entities, such as the European Union or NATO”.
