UCAM begins the pilgrimages of the Jubilee of Hope 2025
The first pilgrimage brought together more than 500 students and lecturers from the Faculty of Sport and the UCAM Polytechnic School on a route from the Monastery of Los Jerónimos to the Cathedral of Murcia
On the occasion of the Jubilee of Hope, which will be celebrated throughout 2025 at a universal level, the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, through the Vice-Rector's Office for University Outreach, has organised a series of pilgrimages from the Monastery of Los Jerónimos to the Cathedral of Murcia. This initiative aims to complete the Jubilee while fostering coexistence between students and lecturers, promoting values such as fellowship, effort and commitment, within a framework of faith and devotion.
The first of these pilgrimages was attended by more than 500 pilgrims, including students and staff from the Faculty of Sport (Murcia and Cartagena campuses) and the UCAM Polytechnic School. Before setting off, UCAM President María Dolores García bade farewell to the participants, encouraging them to take advantage of the day to share moments with their peers and lecturers, as well as focusing on the main purpose of the march: to earn the Jubilee and meet Jesus Christ.
Over a distance of approximately eight kilometres, the pilgrims crossed the Murcian countryside to reach Murcia Cathedral, where the Eucharist was celebrated. The day ended with a variety of musical and sporting activities in an atmosphere of friendship and joy.
This event is just the beginning of a series of pilgrimages that will take place throughout the year, aimed at the different centres and programmes of the UCAM. The next ones, in this order, will be those of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nutrition, the UCAM VET Institute, Law, Economics and Business, Social and Communication Sciences, Education, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Occupational Therapy.
UCAM thus reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive training of its students, integrating experiences into their academic life that reinforce their human and spiritual dimension within the framework of the Jubilee of Hope.
