UCAM begins its 25th academic year
More than 100,000 students have already graduated from the institution, which continues to incorporate new technologies into its educational model.
This week, the students of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, the first UCAM students to start
classes on the Murcia and Cartagena campuses in the new academic year 2022-23, were
nervous and excited. In the coming days, they will be joined by the rest of the degree courses.
Over the last 25 years, 100,000 UCAM students have graduated, the University has invested
197 million euros in research, has carried out intense social work, promoted sport and
generated wealth for society, with investments, direct and indirect job creation, etc.
UCAM has started this academic year with an increase in the number of students and with
several new developments, such as the studies division into 10 large faculties (Medicine;
Pharmacy and Nutrition; Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry; Nursing; Sports;
Communication; Education; Law; Economics and Business, and the UCAM Polytechnic School)
and the implementation of Canvas as the new Virtual Campus. This is used by universities such
as Harvard, Stanford and Oxford and provides teachers with tools to make materials more
attractive and interactive, while at the same time improving user experience, facilitating access
to content, encouraging participation and allowing for more personalised monitoring of the
student. A further leap in the UCAM commitment to the use of the most innovative tools for
higher education. With this, UCAM continues to incorporate the most modern digital tools at the
service of the personalised attention model, in addition to the use of state-of-the-art digital
blackboards in all classrooms and the first real classroom experiences in the metaverse.
Record number of foreign students
UCAM is celebrating a very special year, as this year marks 25 years since its first students first
set foot in the classrooms of the Monastery of Los Jerónimos. During such time, 100,000 UCAM
students have graduated, the University has invested 197 million euros in research, has carried
out intense social work, promoted sport and generated wealth for society, with investments,
direct and indirect job creation, etc. Years in which the institution has seen the trust of society
grow due to the excellence of its educational model, taught in small groups and by a teaching
staff in contact with their profession: with tutorial support, commitment to research, with study
plans adapted to the demands of the sector, supporting sport from the grassroots level and
training in values in the light of Christian humanism. All this has been recognised by national
and international rankings, such as the one published by Times Higher Education, which in its
“Impact Ranking” features UCAM on worldwide level for its “Quality Education”, or the Spanish
IUNE Observatory and the CYD ranking, noting its low dropout rate and the high employability
of its students.
This year UCAM has increased the number of international students, surpassing pre-pandemic
numbers.
