The Royal Academy of Medicine awards prizes to two students and two lecturers from UCAM
In its Opening Ceremony for the 2023 academic year, the Real Academia de Medicina y Cirugía de la Región (Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Murcia) awarded Marina Torrent, student of the Bachelor's Degree in Medicine at Universidad Católica de Murcia, and Clara Rodríguez, from the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, for having the best academic records of UCAM in the 2021- 2022 academic year, as a result of their efforts to reach academic excellence.
Furthermore, two UCAM lecturers were awarded for their research work: Carolina Alemán, from the Faculty of Nursing and PhD student – prize awarded by the Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Enfermería de la Región de Murcia (Official Association of Nursing of the Region of Murcia) – and José Eduardo Maté, from the Bachelor's Degree in Dentistry – prize awarded by the Colegio Oficial de Dentistas de la Región (Official Association of Dentists of Murcia).
These awards, which recognise the work of professionals and students in the field of health, were given at a ceremony held at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, presided over by Manuel Segovia, president of the Real Academia (Royal Academy). Said ceremony was attended by Estrella Núñez, Vice-rector of Research at UCAM, and Paloma Echevarría, dean of the Faculty of Nursing. Estrella Núñez, who spoke at the event, highlighted the importance of these awards, which boost ‘basic research, which we have to link to applied research, to make it translational, so that what is done in the laboratories actually reaches patients’.
