So far this year 40 women have died in Spain as a result of gender violence, which is why UCAM wanted to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with an event held in the cloister of the Los Jerónimos Monastery, coordinated by the International Chair of Women, Business and Sport.

Estrella Núñez, vice-chancellor for Research at UCAM, opened the event, highlighting the role played by women in society and the fact that at this university there are several women in important positions. María Jesús Bonilla, Director of the Chair, took part after Judit Perera, a student in Education, had read the manifesto, in which she highlighted the role of teachers in training in values, human rights and responsibility, configuring themselves as a powerful tool for fighting against gender violence, raising awareness among young people, ensuring dignity in equal proportion and promoting an equal cv.

Students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Dance have offered an emotional choreography, which has served as a tribute to all women, demanding equality and sending a message of hope and commitment to eradicate this scourge.
