The president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, participated, on the 18th June in the private mass in the chapel of Santa Marta in the papal residence, presided by His Holiness Pope Francis. At the mass, in which Mendoza had the honor of serving the altar, also attended a delegation from the Catholic University with the presence of María Dolores García, wife of the president; and Javier Belda, dean of the Faculty of Human, Canonical and Religious Sciences and responsible for the degrees that the Catholic University of Murcia has set in motion with the Pontifical Lateran University, the Pope's University.

After the celebration of the Mass, José Luis Mendoza informed the Pope about the latest details of the project for the diffusion and the new impulse that is being given from Rome to the Marriage and Family Sciences and Canon Law. During the conversation, in which Pope Francis and the president of the UCAM recalled the days of work shared in the Pontifical Council for the Family, the Pontiff asked the maximum representative of the Catholic University to "continue with the projects and supporting the Church" in reference to the activity that the university has been developing from its origin through different initiatives, according to the model promoted by His Holiness, a university that reaches the most needy places in the world. During the greetings, with an affectionate hug, the Pope had a special memory for the children of the Mendoza couple.

For José Luis Mendoza this meeting is "a gift and a very big show of support from His Holiness and an invitation to continue serving the Church as we have done since the foundation of the University, offering the best of ourselves in this important task that has been entrusted to us".

The delegation of the UCAM has also held these days meetings in different Roman dicasteries to consolidate this training project, which is framed in separate agreements signed with the Pontifical Theological Institute John Paul II and the Pontifical Lateran University with the aim that "the thinking of the Pope Francis in canonical and family matters reaches the whole world "as Monsignor Vicenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Theological Institute John Paul II in Rome, points out.

These agreements contemplate, among other things, as special commitments of the UCAM: such as the creation of the Digital Library "Amoris Laetitia" and the possibility of teaching, for the first time in online mode and with civil character, titles belonging to disciplines such as Canon Law or Marriage and Family Sciences.
