Profoundly grateful to the Lord for the legacy and life of Mr. José Luis Mendoza Pérez, founder and president of the Fundación Universitaria San Antonio (San Antonio University Foundation), head of the Universidad Católica de Murcia (UCAM), and of the Fundación Alma Mater de Colegios Católicos (Alma Mater Foundation of Catholic Schools), we hereby inform you of his passing.

The lying in repose will be in the Temple of the Monastery of Los Jerónimos, the seat of UCAM, and the Funeral Mass will take place in the same temple. Information regarding the funeral will be provided shortly.

Three days of mourning have been decreed. Academic activities will be suspended during these days.

We ask you to join us in praying for his soul and for support in the faith of his family.

We would like to share these verses from the Book of Wisdom which he liked to quote in his speeches at the Solemn Opening Ceremonies of the Academic Year.

“O God of my fathers and Lord of mercy… give me the wisdom that sits by thy throne, and do not reject me from among thy servants. For I am thy slave and the son of thy maidservant, a man who is weak and short-lived, with little understanding of judgment and laws; Send her forth from the holy heavens, and from the throne of thy glory send her, that she may be with me and toil, and that I may learn what is pleasing to thee. For she knows and understands all things, and she will guide me wisely in my actions and guard me with her glory”.
