Over 100 associations participate in UCAM's International Volunteer Exhibition

The fair was inaugurated at the Paseo Alfonso X El Sabio in Murcia

With the aim of raising awareness of the actions carried out by social entities in favour of the most disadvantaged, María Dolores García, UCAM president, accompanied by Monsignor José Manuel Lorca Planes, bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena; Concepción Ruiz, councillor for Social Policy, Families and Equality of the regional government, and Antonio Alcaraz, vice-rector of University Outreach, have inaugurated, the 23rd International Volunteering Exhibition organised by the Universidad Católica de Murcia. At it, over 100 associations from different fields such as health, education, international cooperation, migration, and charities of the Catholic Church come together.

This exhibition marks the beginning of the activities of the International Days of Charity and Volunteering, under the theme 'Hope and care for creation: towards the Jubilee of 2025 in Rome'.

María Dolores García Mascarell, UCAM president, expressed her joy at celebrating a new edition which ‘is an opportunity for these entities to show the thousands of people who will pass through the exhibition the great work they do, providing an invaluable service which the government cannot provide; offering their time to devote their lives to others’.

Monsignor Lorca Planes: ‘There are many volunteers who are motivated by compassion to help people by defending their rights, in their duties, and also in their life projects, because there are many people in need, people who are hurt and find themselves in situations that require assistance’.

I would like to congratulate the Universidad Católica de Murcia because, once again, they raise awareness for the entire volunteer movement in the Region of Murcia’, highlighted the councillor Concepción Ruiz in an interview with the media, emphasising that ‘there over than 15,000 volunteers registered with the Department of Social Policy’.

The authorities, accompanied by members of the UCAM Governing Council and its Rector Josefina García, visited each of the stands where they were able to talk to the heads of the different participating entities.
