José Luis Mendoza receives the 'Friend of the Marine Infantry Corps' award
He has received this recognition on the 485th anniversary of the creation of the Marine Infantry, because of his "special relationship with the Corps and what it represents, as well as his affinity to our values and principles".
As part of the celebration in Cartagena of the 485th anniversary of the Spanish Marine Infantry, the oldest in the world, José Luis Mendoza, president of the Universidad Católica San Antonio, was recognised as a 'Friend of the Marine Infantry Corps' in a ceremony presided over by the Commandant-General, Rafael Roldán, held at the Marine Infantry School 'General Albacete y Fuster'.
With this award, the army recognises the constant collaboration of UCAM with the Armed Forces, highlighting, in particular, the donations of food for the needy made by the University through the Fuerza de Guerra Naval Especial (Special Naval Warfare Force) and Caritas.
José Luis Mendoza expressed his gratitude because "more than a friend, I feel like a brother, as I have felt like this since I was a child" and expressed his willingness to "always collaborate with the Ministry of Defence, with which we already cooperate closely in training and research, as well as in social service and sports". The president of UCAM added that "we are an existential university, driven by the power of God's love, with the aim of serving and helping those who need it most, the poor and the sick. We believe it is essential to provide an education in values".
