The prestigious International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the world’s largest network of dental researchers, has appointed José Luis Calvo Guirado, director of the International Dentistry Research Chair at UCAM, as vice president of its Implant Research Group. 


Ranked 34th in the world, his worldwide recognition continues to grow as he has also been elected ‘guest editor’ for the prestigious scientific journals ‘Journal of Clinical Medicine’, ‘Symmetry’, ‘Materials’ and ‘Dentistry Journal’, as well as reviewer of other journals belonging to the MDPI group in the areas of medicine, biology, biochemistry and biomaterials.


The UCAM professor explained that “Working in this group, together with internationally renowned researchers such as professors Georgios Romanos and Rafael Delgado, from the Stony Brook University in New York, increases the participation and worldwide visibility of the UCAM at the level of Dentistry Research”.


International contact networks


Canada, Brazil, India, Argentina and USA are the countries in which Dr. Calvo has disseminated the scientific progress achieved on new implant designs, the use of dentine as a graft and new biomaterials through customised grafts with 3D printing, in which the Research Group in Clinical and Experimental Dentistry, which he leads at the UCAM, is working.  The next stops of the researcher will be Argentina, India, Portugal, Palestine and Chile.
