Health and sport tests in the 2nd Health and Sport Fair organised by UCAM in Cartagena
Today and tomorrow, in the Héroes de Cavite square, the knowledge acquired in the field of health, nutrition and physical activity by the students of UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia is shown in an event in which companies make known specific products of these fields
The Héroes de Cavite square has become, today and tomorrow, the core of physical activity and healthy life promotion thanks to the 2nd Health and Sport Fair that is organised by UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia in collaboration with the Autonomous Community and the Cartagena City Council.
Checking blood pressure, measuring oxygen quantity in blood, testing blood glucose or learning to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation or how to act in case of choking are some of the initiatives implemented by the Faculty of Nursing in this fair, in which the Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy offers massages for muscle contraction, electro stimulation and functional bandages.
Visitors are also offered a biomechanical study of their footstep for free to receive advices on footwear, mind game circuits, physical and anthropometric assessment tests, and the chance to know food labelling, to play Switch Fit and Just Dance and to live the virtual life experience in the basketball field of UCAM Murcia.
One of this year’s innovation has been the inclusion of the recreation of a crime and the analysis laboratory of legal and forensic medicine, apart from a virtual simulator to be “a doctor for a day” or an escape room on health and sport, which are some of the activities that the educative centres who were interested in participating carry out.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, activities addressed to the students of the sports-related Professional Training studies of UCAM are foreseen, and Viva Gym will give a Zumba and a VYoga session. Furthermore, it will be possible to play athletics with the Club Atletismo UCAM Cartagena.
At the inauguration of the fair, the director general of UCAM, Vicente Mendoza, highlighted that “one of the foundations of this university is sport inside the integral training of the student, that together with the field of health gives a special value to our training, thanks to the impressive means that we have and to our technology, for which we are the number one in Spain”.
The fair is sponsored by Practiser, Hospital Centro Médico Virgen de la Caridad, Marnys, Postres Reina, Salud 21, Club Deportivo Santa Ana and the Hostels Federation of the Region of Murcia, with a stand in the event. The Deputy Mayor of the Cartagena City Council, Manuel Padín, and the director general of Sports of the Autonomous Community, Fran Sánchez, among other authorities, participated in the inauguration.
