Experts from seven countries gather at the UCAM in Cartagena to promote the dual career in studies and sport

Through a European Project, the Trainer 1.0 BETA model will be tested in various countries of the EU through pilot experiments in sport training, addressed to young athletes, interested in the professional preparation as football, basketball, handball and volleyball sports technicians.

Within the framework of the effort that the Catholic University of Saint Anthony has been making ever since its foundation to encourage athletes to acquire the necessary training to grant them a good personal and professional future, since yesterday and until tomorrow, the UCAM Campus of Cartagena is hosting an international meeting of experts from Spain, Poland, Albania, Macedonia, Italy, Greece and Cyprus.

This is the second meeting, at the Campus of Cartagena of the Catholic University, of the institutions that participate in the European project Erasmus+ Trainer 1.0 Beta, led by the Polish association IRONMAN and whose organising partner is the Campus of Cartagena of the UCAM.

The project is based on the promotion of the dual career in studies and sport among athletes aged 14 to 18, with the purpose of promoting positive behaviours among young athletes, by focusing on obtaining their first technical knowledge on sport as trainers. At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness on the need, for your European athletes, to think about an ‘exit strategy’ within the sports world, by identifying and making official a model called Trainer 1.0 BETA, validated at EU level by experts in education and training and by sport federations.

The project will test the model in various countries of the EU through pilot experiments in sport training, addressed to young athletes, interested in the professional preparation as football, basketball, handball and volleyball sports technicians.

This training is included in the programme for young trainers through a seminar dedicated to individual professional planning. The programme of this workshop will be prepared on the grounds of the previous projects, already implemented and validated, of Erasmus + Sport Collaborative Partnerships. The project intends to establish local promotional campaigns at EU level, able to identify a testimony of high-level athletes and to ‘use’ it as a model for younger generations, oriented towards communication and social networks, aimed at favouring a sports culture and the need to think about an alternative career after sport.
