Ceremony in Honour of “Cristo de la Salud” in the custody of UCAM

This morning, the university community of UCAM has venerated the sculpture at the Los Jerónimos Campus, during a ceremony prior to the Holy Week in which a prayer was dedicated to all the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and those who were affected by it

The ceremony began with an emotional meeting between a group of students representatives, dressed with the sashes of their degrees, and the image, which overlooked the entrance of the Temple of Los Jerónimos. The representatives of the various degrees and departments of UCAM, as well as Colonel Francisco Herrera, chief of the 5th Parachute Infantry Regiment “Zaragoza”, participated as well.

Yesterday, the sculpture remained exposed throughout the entire day so that the whole university community could pray in front of it. “We did not want to finish this period of Lent, prior to the Holy Week, without carrying out a ceremony like this”, said Luis Emilio Pascual, Elder Chaplain of UCAM. For his part, Antonio Alcaraz, vice-chancellor for University Extension highlighted that “facing this situation that is affecting us and that does not allow us to carry the image out in the streets”, this ceremony “is a symbol of union before the Holy Week”, and of prayer for those who are suffering for the problems caused by this pandemic.
