The Romea Theatre hosted the Ambulance Wish awards. The event brought together volunteers and friends of this foundation with the aim of disseminating its work and recognising the work of people and institutions that have collaborated with the foundation through different solidarity actions.

The UCAM founder, José Luis Mendoza Pérez, was posthumously awarded the 'Kees Veldboer award’ for his social patronage and his contribution to the Ambulance Wish Foundation project.

The Ambulance Wish Foundation wanted to repay José Luis Mendoza with a small part of what he gave to them in life, as stated by Manuel Pardo, patron of the Foundation, who assured that ‘we have unanimously decided to give him this award for helping so many associations and particularly ours since its beginnings. Our first ambulance bears the name of UCAM and of the students thanks to their solidarity’.

The award was collected by his children, Isabel, head of Legal Services of the academic institution, and Francisco, academic secretary of the Faculty of Sports. Isabel Mendoza stressed that ‘it is an award that recognises my father's work; for us this is a wonderful gift’
