UCAM takes all the golds and prevails at the XXI edition of the Inter-University Canoeing Championship

The Universidad Católica paddlers took the four gold medals and once again won the traditional championship against Universidad de Murcia, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena and Academia General del Aire

The XXI edition of the Mar Menor Inter-University Nautical Championship has crowned the UCAM students and employees, who have conquered the four modalities of the canoeing C-10 competition held in San Javier against the kayaks of Universidad de Murcia (UMU), Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) and Academia General del Aire (AGA).

The kayak of the UCAM female students’ team was the first to be crowned on Playa del Pescador, defeating the UMU canoeists in the final. Meanwhile, the mixed student canoe of Universidad Católica won its final against the UPCT. In the last students’ modality, the men’s category, the final was a real battle in which UCAM beat AGA by a narrow three-second margin.

In the master’s category, UCAM university professors and staff, also took the gold medal, beating AGA by only four seconds as well as UPCT, which finished in third position.

These four gold medals have led to the proclamation of the Universidad Católica de Murcia as champion of the tournament for the 16th time and means the trophy remains in the hands of its students and workers after a two-year break caused by the pandemic.
