UCAM and Andbank Wealth Management have signed a collaboration agreement whereby the banking institution will be the new manager of the UCAM Endowment. Andbank was represented at the event by Juan Luis García Alejo, CEO of Andbank, and Eugenio López, senior banker at Andbank and director of the university's Endowment. María Dolores García, UCAM President, signed the agreement with the CEO of Andbank Wealth Management, launching all the actions planned between the two institutions.

The new strategic plan of the university endowment will revolve around three key points. The first of these will be the creation of the university’s in-house fund, called the UCAM University Fund, from which all investments will be channelled following a policy of respect for socially responsible investment (SRI) criteria.

This university in-house fund will have its own ISIN and will be open to the entire investment community to make contributions and share in the results.

The second point is the creation of a new structure for the Endowment, with a general management to oversee all activities of the Endowment, an executive committee for its day-to-day operations and an investment committee to guide investment policy. The third point, closely linked to the UCAM educational role, will be the promotion of training in the field of finance with lecture series aimed at professionals and the university community, together with executive training programmes for all those who wish to broaden their knowledge of the financial world from an eminently practical perspective.

According to Juan Luis García Alejo, this agreement is great news for both parties involved and he recalls that this is a project open to society: ‘Giving access to anyone who wants to join is very important, so that they can do so in an easy way. All you have to do is learn about this endowment and be in line with the ideas and objectives of UCAM.’ José Luis Mendoza García, UCAM Director of Institutional Relations, highlighted that ‘this agreement allows us to expand the endowment of the university, which is aimed at funding student and athlete scholarships, among other projects.

Moreover, this step will enable the academic community to invest through our management portfolio, which is in line with the criteria of the social doctrine of the Church. In addition, a line of training will be opened to raise awareness among different groups in financial knowledge and analysis, portfolio management and investment-savings. This is going to be a major innovation in Spain and we hope that it will bear fruit by generating wealth.’
