Maria Dolores García, president of UCAM, along with Carlos Caballero, director of UCAM HiTech Accelerator, and the representatives of Orbyn and NG Capital.

UCAM strengthened its commitment to entrepreneurship by creating a Venture Studio for scientific and technological start-ups focused on the fields of health, sport and nutrition, using university research projects from all over Spain and Europe, and selecting as partners Orbyn and NG Capital, corporations with extensive experience in the implementation of this type of model.

Venture Studio, an organisation for launching new companies, creating and validating ideas from a central management team, is UCAM's commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. This places it among the leading universities in this field at an international level, and will be developed through HiTech, the innovation and business acceleration hub, with the support of the Incyde Foundation.

Orbyn, the first fintech for alternative financial products and tailor-made services for both companies and investors, contributes within the framework of this agreement to meet the future needs of UCAM in the field of alternative investment, technological solutions, training and dissemination, as well as collaborating in the selection and co-investment in projects that are part of the ecosystem. This agreement was signed today, Tuesday 4 July, by the representatives of the different organisations involved, at the UCAM headquarters. Afterwards, and in order to provide financial support to the start-ups, UCAM will support the launch of an investment vehicle managed by NG Capital.

Thus, UCAM will promote the transfer of technology from the university, using the successful models of universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Stanford.

UCAM's Venture Studio will be the first at a Spanish university, placing it at the forefront of university entrepreneurship internationally. This milestone is particularly important as Venture Studios offer a supportive environment for the development of start-ups, providing resources, mentoring and networking, as well as funding. ‘This project reinforces our commitment to innovation and business development, providing our students and researchers, as well as society in general, with unparalleled opportunities for entrepreneurship, growth and success,’ stated UCAM President María Dolores García Mascarell, adding that ‘it is our desire to support the innovative ideas that will emerge from this project and that these start-ups will contribute to improving the fields of sports and nutrition, in which UCAM specialises and in which we have international recognition.’

‘We are thrilled to collaborate with UCAM on this innovative project,’ remarked Orbyn Corporate Solutions CEO, Ricardo Ruipérez. ‘We strongly believe in the potential of companies in the foodtech, healthtech and sportstech sectors, and we are eager to provide the necessary tools and support that will help entrepreneurs succeed.’ ‘We are privileged to be part of this project from the beginning,’ said NG Capital CEO, José Luis Cantón, ‘This will connect start-ups with high growth potential with professional investors, thus actively contributing to innovation and job creation.’
