Communication students launch the Christmas campaign ‘Con Cariño, tu nieto’

The initiative encourages young people, who have been stigmatised during the pandemic, to write a letter to their grandparents and read it to them by video call, telling them how they feel about them

The campaign is an initiative of the Faculty of Communication and the UCAM Digitalac research group in which several university students have participated and have wanted to write a personalised letter to their grandparents to send it to them via video call. The students thank their grandparents for their patience and endurance in the face of the lockdown. They show their admiration and let them know that they miss their hugs but understand that they should not put them at risk. Their greatest wish for the new year is to be able to celebrate Christmas together again and make up for lost time.

The video encourages a group that has been stigmatised during the pandemic to have a special gift with their elders and to tell them how they feel about them this Christmas.

Covid Project

This is one of the 24 research projects related to Covid-19 and financed by UCAM. ‘Communication and Elders in the context of Covid-19. The voice/radio as a tool for social integration and emotional management for the elderly in the Region of Murcia’ is managed by the Digitalac research group, and aims to provide solutions to mitigate the communication problems suffered by the elderly caused by Covid-19 in Spain and, especially, in the Region of Murcia. Through coordinated research with organisations and the design and creation of radio programmes (and in podcast format) the project aims to raise awareness of the different circumstances and realities of older people in the current context.
