Los Jerónimos Monastery, headquarters of the Universidad Católica de Murcia, was the place where Al Jarwan and José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, met to define the basis of the projects that will be set up, as the president of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace explained at the end of the meeting: “UCAM is a university of great prestige. We are looking for academic partners to promote peace and tolerance in different parts of the world”.

Antonio Alcaraz, Vice-Rector of University Outreach of the Universidad Católica, commented along the same lines on the possibilities for collaboration: “Al Jarwan is one of the most influential people in the Arab world and he is strengthening ties with different institutions and universities, including ours, which is why we have drawn up the collaboration framework”.

Prior to this, at the Spanish Congress of Deputies, UCAM organised an event for the defence of indigenous peoples and evangelisation. The event was attended by Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, who expressed his interest in getting to know UCAM and initiating collaboration projects between the two institutions. The meeting set up was part of the International Charity and Volunteering Congress of the Universidad Católica.
