The Catholic University of Murcia reaffirms its commitment to sport through a collaboration agreement with the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA). Through this agreement, the UCAM High Performance Sports Research Center (CIARD) and the RFEA will collaborate on research in the field of health and athletic performance of federated athletes, especially in the Racewalking sector.


The UCAM High Performance Sports Research Center has been monitoring international racewalkers for several years, such as Miguel Ángel López (World and European Champion), Manuel Bermúdez (silver medal in the 2016 World Cup) and Amanda Cano, among others.


Through this agreement, both entities will establish a specific physiological and functional assessment programs and biomedical monitoring both in the field of health and the performance of athletes. In addition, they will carry out exchanges of information and mutual advice based on the data obtained in these follow-ups.

Within the Racewalking sector of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, it is important to mention José Antonio Carrillo, president of the UCAM Athleo de Cieza, and mentor of great Olympic racewalkers from the Region of Murcia, such as Fernando Vázquez, Juanma Molina, Benjamín Sánchez and Miguel Ángel López.
