Michelin starred chefs will be counselling the Bachelor in Gastronomy

Fran Martínez, chef of the Maralba restaurant; Pablo González-Conejero from La Cabaña de la Finca Buenavista; Kiko Moya of L’Escaleta and the renowned best pastry chef of Spain, Juan Antonio Serrano, are some of the new members of the new Advisory Board of the Degree in Gastronomy of the Catholic University of Murcia.

It is in a unique setting that the Advisory Board of the Degree in Gastronomy of the Catholic University of Murcia has been presented: the GastroLab of the Roca Brothers of the Campus of Los Jerónimos. Various members of this new body assisted to the event, such as the Michelin starred chefs Pablo Gonzáles-Conejero (La Cabaña de la Finca Buenavista); Kiko Moya (L’Escaleta) and Fran Martínez (Maralba); as well as the renowned best pastry chef of Spain, Juan Antonio Serrano; Pablo Gómez, professor of the Degree of Gastronomy; Carmen Reverte, the director of the Tourism Qualification Centre of Murcia; Enrique Lorca, responsible of the Training Area of the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia. 


Pablo González-Conejero highlighted that this Advisory Board will approach the latest aspects of gastronomy. “We turned to great people who know and master the sector in which they are working” he ensured, and added, “We hope this will help the Degree to achieve the recognition and notoriety it really deserves”. Maralba’s chef showed pride to be part of this Advisory Board, which he defined as a great initiative, and ensured that “as chefs, we have the obligation to teach what we know; and, here, we have a platform to develop, teach and support all students to love this job”.


UCAM’s president, José Luis Mendoza, reminded the importance the restaurant sector has nationally and worldwide, and the role played by professionals of gastronomy.
