A meeting to celebrate the World Tourism Day

Juan Hernandez, tourism counsellor, took part in the event together with students, teachers and professionals of the tourism sector

The Bachelor's Degree in Tourism of the Catholic University of Murcia celebrated on the Campus of Los Jerónimos a meeting between students, professors and professionals of the tourism sector on the occasion of the celebration of the World Tourism Day, this Sunday.

During the event, which focused on the theme “Investing in youth is creating future” and the development of talent in the tourism sector, intervened the Economic, Tourism and Employment Development counsellor of CARM (region of Murcia), Juan Hernández; he highlighted the need for professionals to train in various areas “beyond the technical knowledge required for the development of a profession”.

As far as the importance of tourism is concerned, Hernández ensured that it is going to be one of the pillars of the economic growth, and insisted that the future of the sector will also depend on the students, “how they will be trained and the commitment they will have to the development of their capacities”.

Moreover, he asserted that “UCAM, with its training, is contributing to the development of the regional economy, bringing talent and human capital the region needs to face the current growth”.

It is worth reminding that the University, together with its Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, is Affiliate Member of the World Tourism Organization, a specialised organisation belonging to the United Nations and main international institution in the field of tourism.
