Javier Ferrnández: “UCAM and COE are helping athletes prepare for a life after competition”
Javier Fernandez, double world champion of skating, says thanks to UCAM and COE on behalf of the 19 athletes in attendance.
The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) welcomed nineteen athletes who will join the ranks of the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) with a presentation. The event participants included José Luis Mendoza, president of UCAM, and Alejandro Blanco, president of COE.
Blanco stated that not another country has "this great squad of athletes" and expressed thanks to the work done by UCAM. With regard to the helping the athletes form after their competing career, he said "UCAM is helping society and young people by giving them new and exciting ways to advance their career.
José Luis Mendoza explained the importance in training athletes "you are opening a fantastic way to give career orientation for athletes after their competing life" he said, noting that UCAM is a great reference model: "They come from all over the world to see UCAM’s execution and commitment to sport". Similarly, he encouraged companies to join the project being developed by both institutions.

Javier Fernandez, double world champion of skating, who acknowledged his desire to enroll in the UCAM degree of Business Administration, on behalf of all athletes, we give thanks to COE and UCAM for the support. He stressed the importance of being involved after his career in sport came to an end. "Having the support to do something after a competing career like studying at COE and UCAM is very important to us. With the help of the Catholic University of Murcia we can look forward to our next career"
Meanwhile, Carolina Marin showed interest in studying sports physiotherapy in the Murcian institution, saying that "I have always wanted to follow career linked to sport and UCAM gives me the opportunity to achieve it"
